The Super Siblings and the Spoiled King
One fine morning, the Super siblings were eating breakfast around the table. Each minding their own business, until Sol, the middle child started a conversation.
“It’s been so quiet lately,” he said. “Too quiet.”
“Yeah, let’s hope it stays that way,” Spike, the second oldest, answered. “Though, you’re right it is too quiet.
“No matter how quiet it is, we must take advantage of this time,” Flare, the oldest added.
“Yeah, and of course that means more training, right? Sol interrupted her, punching the air to emphasize his words. This made Flare chuckle.
“While yes, training and discipline are important,” she proclaimed. Igniting a flame in her hand, and swiftly putting it away. “Taking the time to unwind, and gather yourself is just as beneficial.’
“Our time living here has taught me that.”
Spike frowned.
“You’re right, Flare, but maybe don’t put it like that,” he said as a smile took its place. “It makes you sound like an old lady.”
Flare shook her head, while the three younger siblings chuckled.
“Well if Flare’s an old lady,” said Coral, the second youngest. “Then Bear must be a middle aged man.”
The youngest, Bear, was leaning on the table eating his breakfast, and overall not paying attention. He perked up with a piece of bread in his mouth. He took a look at them, and with a big bite ate the rest of the bread.
“What?” He asked. “Is it something I said?”
They all laughed, including Flare, though a bit softer than the others. Just then a loud thud could be heard in the distance. Making them all go quiet, after a moment they assumed everything was fine and tried to go back to eating. Then a louder thud was heard, making them all get up from their seats. Then a third even louder thud went off. They all rushed outside, being a distant sound, they expected the cause of it not to be directly in front of their home. Which was indeed the case, luckily they had other means of looking. Flare noticed a puddle leftover from the storm last night.
“Coral?” Flare asked. “See if any faraway puddles can give you a look-see.
“Aye aye,” she answered, giving Flare an okay sign.
She puts her hand in the air, rotating it, from her palm a stream of water emits and forms a circle. She then placed her hand on the circle tapping it. The water starts to ripple, revealing an image, a titanic giant leading a small army of spear brandished soldiers.
“Oh dear.” Coral put her hands to her mouth.
“Not good,” said Sol.
“So much for quiet,” Spike whispered to Sol. “Me and my big mouth.”
“Be prepared for anything,” said Flare.
“Achoo,” went Bear, sneezing loudly.
“Bless you,” they all said.
“Thanks,” he responded.
Bear’s ears start twitching, he sticks out his hand to cup his left ear and leans to the side. Which the older Supers notice
“What is it, Bear?” Sol asks.
“I hear some voices,” he answers. “I think it’s the elves.”
“See if you can see what they’re doing,” suggested Spike.
“Okay,” agreed Bear.
With a blink of his eyes, his pupils became green with the reminiscence of an eagle’s. With this, he was able to see that the elves in their nearby village were having a celebration.
“Looks like they’re having a party.”
Spike thought to himself for a second.
“Bear, can you see anything particular,” he said. “Like something we can use as a landmark?”
“A landmark,” pondered Bear.
“Maybe something that sticks out of the grass,” added Coral.
Sol, who was previously confused on what to say next, lit up and went over to her.
“Attagirl baby sis,” he praised. “That’s using your noggin.”
He ruffled her hair playfully. She tried to pry his hands off, a bit embarrassed but smiling. Bear took another look, guiding his eyes along the village’s sights. Rising to the top of the village he noticed a tower which seemed to be a fixer upper. He zoomed a bit and noticed it pierced through the grass.
“A tower,” exclaimed Bear. “It’s made out of old stuff and tied together by string.”
“That’ll do,” said Flare.
“Let’s hope it's a firm string,” Spike said to Sol, who nodded.
“Firm or not, we need to act quickly,” spoke Flare, who then looked to Sol. “So Sol, go to that elf village and help them to safety.”
“Aye, captain,” Sol responded, with a salute and a smile. “I’ll get them out of there faster than you can even think about me doing it.” He dashed a few feet from left and right with his light speed to demonstrate.
“Very good,” said Flare.
Bear got in front and went all fours, like a lion about to pounce his prey.
“Alright, let’s go,” he exclaimed. “Those guys won’t know what hit them.”
Flare looked at him then looked at Sol.
“Actually Bear,” she said. “I think you should go with Sol.”
Hearing this Bear got back up on his legs.
“Huh? Why?” He asked.
“Sol’s gonna need help getting those elves to safety,” she explained.
“Aww, why can’t Spike go with him?” Bear complained.
“Um?” Spike pondered, a bit embarrassed.
“Sol’s gonna need your eyes,” Flare said. “To know where he’s going.”
Bear looked down in contemplation, a disappointed look appeared on his face. Sol and Coral looked at him, then at each other. Both looked like they had something to say, but couldn’t. Flare got down to Bear’s level and put her hands on his shoulders.
“As soon as you’re done with rescue,” she said. “You can come and join us.”
Bear seemed silent for a second, but he soon lit up and nodded. Which made Flare smile proudly. She got back up on her feet and went to Spike and Coral.
“Alright, the three of us will head to those stone warriors.”
She then looked to Sol and Bear.
“You two will go to the elf village and inform them of the situation.”
Sol put his arm on Bear’s shoulder and gave Flare a thumbs up.
“You got it,” he said.
Flare nods, and she, Spike, and Coral go towards the direction of the boy and his stone warriors. Sol then made a face, and reached out his hand.
“Wait Flare,” he said.
Flare turned around and met his gaze.
“Yes?” She answered.
Sol was about to say something but then lost it.
“Ummm, nothing,” he spilled. “Stay safe okay?”
He waved to them, Spike and Coral waved back. While Flare pondered for a second.
“Good luck guys,” went Spike. “See you in a bit.”
“Bye Sol,” said Coral. “Bye bye Bear.”
Flare ran off in a wave of heat, Spike and Coral followed with a spark and a splash.
“C’mon bud,” Sol said, nudging Bear looked bummed again. “I’ll race ya.”
A smile returned to his face, in fact he started laughing.
“No fair,” he said. “I can’t even catch you in cheetah form.”
Sol dashed a few feet, leaving a trial of light behind him.
“Hey you never know unless you try,” he replied. “C’mon.”
“Okay,” Bear replied, his smile returning.
Soon leaf-like energy surrounded him and covered his whole body. Bursting from them came a cheetah, who retained Bear features.
“That’s more like it,” said Sol. “Let’s go Bea-”
Before he could finish Bear dashed off, leaving him behind.
“Hey,” he shouted, laughing. “Get back here.”
He too dashed off catching up with Bear in no time.
Meanwhile the other three were on trek to confront their unwanted guests.
“There they are,” said Spike.
Up ahead they could see the stone army, they ran up ahead and stood in front of them..
“Stop right there,” said Flare.
The soldiers stopped in their tracks, the giant right behind them. From above, the boy on top of the giant’s head knocked on it and it stuck out its hand and brought him down to the ground. Not without making himself a platform of earth with a snap of his fingers.
“Greetings subjects,” the boy announced. “You may bow when ready.”
The three of them did not bow, in fact, Coral almost laughed.
“Bow?” Spike asked, pointing to him. “To you?”
“Of course,”claimed the boy.” “For I am king of all see.”
While he was dressed like a king, the boy’s attire looked rather thrown together as if it was a costume for a play.
“Right,” said Spike, who nodded uncomfortably.
Coral could barely contain herself, covering her mouth to prevent any laughter. Nudging Flare with her elbow.
“Wha-what do,” she started to ask through her laughter. “W-we d-d-do with h-him sis?”
“Young man,” began Flare. “We are not your subjects.”
“Yeah,” blurted Spike. “I mean truth be told we’re not even from here.”
Flare put out her hand, which Spike knew meant for him to let her do the talking.
“We are here to let you know that you and your army are on course to crush an elf village, small elves at that. Beyond that is our home and a nearby human village.”
Spike and Coral, who still had wore a smile, nodded.
“I suggest that you turn around, take your army and go back where you came from.”
The boy was quiet for a second, but then started laughing.
“I don’t think I could’ve been clearer,” the boy said, being carried back up onto the giant's head. “But everyone is my subject, even those from other lands.”
His stone soldiers took their spears and pointed them towards the three of them. Coral’s smile faded and Spike looked rather nervous.
“Oh man, maybe I should’ve been on the elf evacuation team,” Spike said.
“Me too,” Coral agreed.
Flare stood still, then shifted her feet and ignited a flame from her hand. In no time she threw it at one of the soldiers, knocking it down. She ran towards the crowd and started taking more and more of them out.
Their rocky remains scattering along the ground. The boy took notice of this, scratching his chin before his eyes lit up.
“I see,” he said. “So you’re an elemental.”
Flare looked up at him unimpressed. Soldiers began to surround her but Spike and Coral came over to stop them. From his hands Spike generated a bolt of electricity and fired it at the soldiers making them explode. Coral puffed up her cheeks, from her mouth jetted a stream of water sending them all flying and broken.
“All elementals hmm?” The boy pondered aloud. “I see, you must be the Super siblings.
“That’s us,” said Coral, while flinging one of the soldiers away with a wave.
“Don’t wear it out,” said Spike, Firing an electric shock at a different soldier.
Flare remained silent as she took out soldiers with merciless fiery punches and kicks.
“No matter,” the boy began again. “That’ll only prove I’m the most royal of all when I take you all down. Never again will anyone doubt the great Alexander.”
“Alexander?” said Spike.
“Well, at least we know who we’re fighting,” Coral said to him, shrugging.
“It does not matter who he is,” Flare spoke up. “We have a job to do.”
“Right,” they both said.
One by one they took down any incoming soldier, never taking a second to make a mistake.
Meanwhile, Sol and Bear were running across the meadow towards their house. Carrying a slew of elves on both of their backs.
“How are you guys doing back there, Minuscolo?” Sol asked the Elf leader.
“Steady as you go, Sir Sol,” he said.
“How about you, Bear?” Sol asked, he looked back at him and noticed that even while a cheetah he still looked sad.
“Are you still bummed you couldn’t go fight?”
Bear nodded, with slow movement so he wouldn’t knock any of the elves on his back off.
“Cat got your tongue, Sir Bear?” Minuscolo asked.
This made Sol chuckled.
“He can’t speak while he’s an animal,” Sol explained.
“I see.”
“Bear, I know you’re sad you couldn’t go but trust me Flare has he reasons. She’s not doing this to be mean I assure you.”
Bear started to smile, which in turn made Sol smile.
“Don’t forget what you’re doing for us,” Minuscolo said. “You’re recusing us from a disaster.”
“Yeah Bear, there’s more to doing good then fighting,”
Bear’s smile grew even bigger as they continued on their way back to their home.
Meanwhile Flare and her team were still facing off against the stone soldiers. One of them grabbed her ponytail, she ignited her hair and the soldier let go. Flare swung around and released a dash of fire from her hair taking out the soldier.
“There seems to be no end to them,” said Spike.
“Shoot,” cried Coral. “I think I’m dehydrating.”
Alexander starts to go into a laughing fit.
“This is so much fun,” he declared.
A bit tired, but still standing, Flare went over to the two of them.
“You two, go home and get some rest,” she said. “I’ll hold them off till then.”
“Wait Flare,” Spike rebutted.
“No,” exclaimed Coral.
More soldiers marched up to them, prepared, they all got into a fighting stance. Just then a trail of light, and a flurry of leaves appeared taking out the rest of the soldiers.
“Bear!” Coral shouted.
“Sol, alright! Spike cheered.
“Hey guys,” Sol waved. “Sorry, we’re late to the party.”
“Hi,” Bear greeted. “All elves are safe and found.”
Flare looked at the two of them with satisfaction. They all got together in a circle.
“Flare?” Sol asked. “I think I have an idea, mind if I give it a shot?”
Flare looked at Sol, then at Bear.
“Go right ahead,” she agreed.
Sol walked up in front of the giant and cleared his throat.
“Hey you, umm” he began.
“Alexander,” said Coral.
“Alexander!” Sol started again. “I got something to say to you!”
“Oh yeah?” Alexander sneered. “What would that be?”
Sol went silent for a second, almost acting like Flare.
“You wanna play?” He suddenly asked.
“Huh?” Went Spike and Coral who both did a double take.
Bear cheered, while Flare just smiled.
“Me?” Alexander asked. “Play with you guys?”
“Yep,” said Sol, looking at Bear. It’s what you wanted right?”
THE END.
